High Highs and Low Lows for New York Football

Tweet The scene: MetLife Stadium, 11pm. It’s 37 degrees, but the fans around me no longer care much about the cold and the wind. I’m strangely warm too. What’s keeping us cozy in the freezing stadium? The satisfaction of watching a Giants team that has come back alive after weeks of mediocrity. I’ve had plans to attend the Giants-Packers game for months, but after watching the Giants in the weeks before their bye, my excitement was a bit dulled. As any Giants fan knows, every game is a gamble. Who is going to show up to play? The Super Bowl Champion New York Giants? Or a bunch of guys from the parking lot who happen to be wearing the Giants uniforms? I may have faith in the Giants, but I still didn’t know how much of a rout I’d be willing to watch, especially since my tolerance for cold...

Giants Starting to Look Like Jets

Tweet That may be the meanest thing I’ve said about the New York Giants in a very long time, but after watching Sunday’s game, it’s hard to dispute the idea that the Giants seem to be sliding downward. Tom Coughlin, who never criticizes individual performances after tough losses, finally used the words “terrible” and “foolish” when talking about Eli Manning’s decision-making skills in the pocket (I’ve been using similar words for weeks, although admittedly...

New York Hit By Two Hurricanes: Sandy and the Pittsburgh Steelers

Tweet Too soon? New Yorkers (and the surrounding area) had a rough week last week. It’s very rare for New York to get a real hurricane, and Hurricane Sandy shocked everyone by being just as powerful and destructive as predicted (unlike last year, where Hurricane Irene was rather tame compared to predictions). Power outages, flooding, and property damage across the Tri-State area made New York think it deserved a win this Sunday. With the...

Will the move to Barclay’s Center finally turn the Islanders around?

Tweet I’ll start by saying that I have been an Islanders fan since my birth. Most people I meet hear this and instantly pity me, probably because the Islanders have not been very good throughout my 22 years of life. I was raised to love a team that had been dominant in the years before I existed and mediocre (at best) since then. Sure, there have been a few years where we’ve snuck our...

Why are we still talking about Tim Tebow?

Why are we still talking about Tim Tebow?

Tweet The front page of this Sunday’s New York Times Sports section had a large article entitled Tim Tebow Fans Lament His Limited Role on Jets. I was baffled to see people still talking about him, especially in so prominent a spot in the Sports section. I was just going to scan the article to see what people were saying, and I had to stop and gawk at some of the Tim Tebow fans....
