Nnamdi Asomugha followed the lead of Cliff Lee and Lebron James, spurning New York City for some place obviously less desirable. So what's the next step for Rex Ryan and Gang Green this offseason??

Earlier this afternoon, as NFL teams are finally allowed to start officially start signing free agents, it has been announced that the Philadelphia Eagles, and NOT the New York Jets, have landed No. 1 free agent cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha. And once again, Philadelphians are dancing in the streets while New Yorkers sit at home wondering how it all went wrong again. Is Philadelphia just simply the better city??
The chief rival of the New York Jets (and representatives of NYC's biggest rival-city, sports-wise), the New England Patriots, made huge splashes in the NFL transaction pool yesterday, trading a ham sandwhich for defensive tackle/monstrous asshole Albert Haynesworth and a couple of late draft picks for wide receiver Chad Ochocinco. So the question on Jets fans minds this weekend has to be; How do Rex Ryan, Mike Tannenbaum, and the Gang Green front office counter the Pats bold moves??
So just as previously predicted, the NFL owners and players found a way to split their seemingly-limitless amount of continually-growing profit right before they'd end up losing any of it. The lockout officially came to an end Monday evening, meaning the 2011 NFL season is no longer in jeopardy. Now we get the NFL offseason on Red Bull, which'll likely lead to the biggest NFL Opening Week ever. While the teams aren't allowed to officially sign other team's free agents until Friday, here are some quick notes and thoughts for Jets and Giants fans alike:
It is about time where the New York Jets brass should swallow their pride and make their best player Darrelle Revis a contract offer worthy of his talent. Think about it this way: at the very worst Revis is the second best player at his position (behind Nnamdi Asomugha) and their contracts are no where near comparable. At age 27, the Oakland Raiders rewarded their stud defender with a 45.3 million dollar contract over three years. 28.5 million of that money was guaranteed and the deal made Asomugha the richest defensive back in NFL history, a title that Revis apparently needs.
