Different Sports. Different Players. Same Results: Are TO and Randy The New Iverson and Marbury?

By Mark C. Rinaldi -- The year was 2001 and a young Allen Iverson was making his second All-Star game in front of his home town of Washington D.C. Iverson’s backup on the Eastern Conference team was a brash young point guard from Jersey named Stephon Marbury.

Come Party With The Commissioner of Tailgating

As you know, tailgating, for most football fans, is way beyond just cooking a few hot dogs in the parking lot before the game. This is certainly the case here in NY, where it's a weekly ritual for fans to set up shop in the parking lot hours before game time to showcase their grilling talents, have a party and colorfully support their team.

Brett Favre Gets What He Deserves – A Football In The Groin!

October 14, 2010

By Eric Marmon -- If there was ever a reason for No. 4 to finally miss a start, THIS injury would be it. The only thing in the world thats had a long run than Brett Favre might be The Simpsons, and as big fans of one (and not so much the other), I can readily admit I've already watched this at least a dozen times. And I intend to watch it again. It never gets old... unlike No. 4.

First Look At The 2010-2011 New Jersey Devils

First Look At The 2010-2011 New Jersey Devils

By Anthony Strait -- The New Jersey Devils has become a model of long term stability. That’s what happens when you’ve made the playoffs each of the last 13 seasons (not including the cancelled lockout 2004-05 season). Also adding three Stanley Cups along the way makes the franchise look good. Yet the last few years have seen the Devils bow out in the first round of the playoffs. Last April saw them go out quietly in five games to the eventual conference champions Philadelphia Flyers. Jacques Lemaire stepped down after the season-continuing the inconsistency behind the bench. Enter all-time scorer John MacLean to fill the coaching void and help the Devils get beyond the first round.

New Digest Feature: Mensch of the Week

In one of our newest features, The NY Sports Digest is bringing you our "Mensch of the Week." The word "mensch," for those who do not know, is from the old Yiddish language and literally translates to "What a nice young man!" The book "The Joys Of Yiddish" defines the word Mensch as "someone to admire and emulate, someone of noble character. The key to being a real mensch is nothing less than character, rectitude, dignity, a sense of what is right, responsible, decorous." Simply put, being a Mensch is a good thing.

Jay-Z, Eminem Headline All-Star Concert At Yankee Stadium

By Mark C. Rinaldi -- Growing up as a Yankee fan I have become accustomed to seeing a line up of All-Stars in the Bronx, however, I do not think there has ever been such a collection of big names in Yankee Stadium as their was on Tuesday night. Jay-Z tag teamed with Eminem for three concerts, one in Detroit that Eminem headlined, and two star-studded events at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx. Tuesday was the second show in back-to-back nights and both concerts were opened at 7:30 by B.o.B. Even though B.o.B is from Atlanta, Georgia he made sure that the audience knew that he felt there truly is no place like New York.

One More Reason To Hate Brett Favre

One More Reason To Hate Brett Favre

By Eric Marmon -- Listen, there are plenty of reasons to hate Brett Favre. Every frequent watcher of ESPN gets that vomit-taste in the back of their mouths knowing the 20-year veteran's retirement talk has conquered/wasted huge chunks of SportsCenter-time the past half-dozen summers. For Packers fans, there is the obvious feeling of betrayal. For all of our New York Jets fans, Favre's 1-year in Gang Green will always be remembered for his late-season collapse. And even Vikings fans, after years of getting beaten by the guy, still can't have more than a luke-warm feeling towards the gun-slinger who's propensity for interceptions kept them out of last years Super Bowl
