Mensch of the Week – Jorge Posada

The 2011 baseball season has not been the norm for Jorge Posada. Told in the offseason he'd no longer be given the opportunity to be the team's full time catcher, Posada has struggled in his new permanent DH role. His struggling bat led to the much-debated Posada-gate, when the Yankee lifer asked to be taken out of the Yankee line-up. Which is why we're going back to one of our old features, the NY Sports Digest Mensch of the Week, where we celebrate the charity work done by one of sports biggest names. While Posada's work on the field might not be up to the standards Yankee fans typically hold him to, his Jorge Posada Foundation continues to thrive off of it.
