December 13, 1926 – Birthday of Dodger pitcher Carl Erskine.

December 13, 1956 – Brooklyn Dodger great Jackie Robinson retires after being traded to the Giants.

December 13, 1961 – Yankee great Mickey Mantle signs a contract for $82,000. Only Joe DiMaggio had been paid more by the team.

December 13, 1983 – Islander Butch Goring scores 4 goals in a win over Edmonton. It is his 14th and final hat-trick of  his NHL career.

December 13, 2001 – Yankees and Jason Giambi agree on a $120 million 7 year contract.

December 13, 2007 – The Mitchell Report is released. It details the illegal use of performance enhancing drugs in MLB.

December 13, 2007Yankees and Alex Rodriquez agree on a $275 million 10 year contract, the richest deal in MLB history.
