Jets Fans: Are You Taking The Bills Seriously??

By Cooper L. Train -- Last week, we questioned the authenticity of the Jets-Dolphins rivalry. This week, we're just wondering about if anyone takes the Buffalo/Toronto Bills seriously at all. It's easy not to. The Bills haven't been a serious player in the NFL since they lost a quartet of Super Bowls in the early 90's (Unless you count those mediocre Drew Bledsoe years or the thrilling Doug Flutie-Rob Johnson QB controversy), and just three weeks into the NFL season they've already cut their opening day starter. The Jets, meanwhile, have just played three teams you could argue were serious Super Bowl contenders

Remember Him? – Keith Hernandez Caught PDA-ing in Manhattan

By Tommy Willet -- HILARIOUS yet disturbing story filed on Huffington Post Sports today by good friend of The Digest Michael Klopman. Apparently, former New York Met Keith Hernandez was seen dining at Bottega del Vino on East 59th street... and by "dining," we mean blatantly making out in public. The first thought that came to my head when reading it: Well, there's no way she's hotter than Elaine Benes...

Who’s Gonna Be In The Giants Ring of Honor??

Members of the Ring of Honor were selected by the organization based on their contributions to the success and history of the franchise. Players, coaches, front office executives and owners will be included."

First Look At The 2010-2011 New Jersey Devils

By Anthony Strait -- The New Jersey Devils has become a model of long term stability. That’s what happens when you’ve made the playoffs each of the last 13 seasons (not including the cancelled lockout 2004-05 season). Also adding three Stanley Cups along the way makes the franchise look good. Yet the last few years have seen the Devils bow out in the first round of the playoffs. Last April saw them go out quietly in five games to the eventual conference champions Philadelphia Flyers. Jacques Lemaire stepped down after the season-continuing the inconsistency behind the bench. Enter all-time scorer John MacLean to fill the coaching void and help the Devils get beyond the first round.

What Should The Yankees Post-Season Rotation Look Like?

What Should The Yankees Post-Season Rotation Look Like?

Pitching, pitching, pitching. That's what wins in baseball, and any half-decent General Manager will tell you the same. In 2009, the Yankees had a dominant 3-man rotation, featuring CC Sabathia, AJ Burnett, and Andy Pettitte. All three remain on the roster in 2010, but are they all locks to be included in this post season rotation? Um, no. Pettitte has spent huge chunks of the season on the DL, and Burnett has been so inconsistent he's made most Yankees fans completely forget about his heroic must-win in Game 2 of last season's Fall Classic. There are other factors to consider as well, such as Phil Hughes and his 17 regular season wins, or Ivan Nova who has looked strong in limited action. So now that we know they're in the playoffs, it's time we turn our attention to the decision that could make-or-break the Bronx Bombers:

Remember Him? – Giants Promote Jets Hazing Victim Brian Jackson

By Tommy Willet -- With the Yankees clinching a playoff spot, this Wednesday afternoon isn't exactly a prime time for a football team to make headlines. But since the Giants look like they're trying their hardest to knock themselves out of contention by the middle of October, we thought we'd give them a spot in Wednesday's Remember Him? Giants safety Michael Johnson's New York career probably came to an end when the team placed him on the injured reserve list yesterday. While no one wants to see a player go down, this did give the G-Men an extra roster spot, which they used to promote practice squad member Brian Jackson.

First Look At The 2010-2011 New York Rangers

First Look At The 2010-2011 New York Rangers

By Anthony Strait -- The New York Rangers 2009-10 season was summed up in one game. On the final Sunday of the regular season, the Rangers took an early lead on the eventual conference champions, the Philadelphia Flyers. But a lack of scoring and an overworked Henrik Lundqvist became the teams demise. The shootout loss led to the franchises first non-playoff season since the lockout five years ago. The Rangers regression the last two seasons have put head coach John Tortorella in the hot seat as a slow start or another non-playoff season could spell doom for the man who took over mid-season in 2009. The Rangers also relied too heavy on scoring machine Marian Gaborik-whose 42 goals and 86 points were among the league leaders in the respected categories. The inconsistencies hurt the Rangers, however, and Lundqvist wore down as the season progressed. GM Glen Sather signed goaltender Martin...

Yankees (Finally) Clinch A Playoff Spot!!

Yankees (Finally) Clinch A Playoff Spot!!

By Tommy Willet -- The New York Yankees will be participating in the MLB Post Season for the fifteenth time in the last sixteen years, a truly remarkable number. Think about it this way: the true die-hards start getting into baseball at, what, age five? That means if your 21 years old today... old enough to legally drink, smoke, vote, buy a gun or rent an SUV... the Bronx Bombers have made it to the playoffs every year in your memory (minus 2008). But that's to be expected. This is New York, after all. Is there any franchise in sports that is such a guarantee to make the playoffs every year? Maybe a select few of the NBA or NHL teams, but certainly no team in baseball or football team can call themselves a post season lock in the way our Yanks can.

Remember Him? – Leon Washington BEASTS For Seattle With TWO Special Teams Touchdowns

By Tommy Willet -- Today we're going to discuss former Jets running back Leon Washington, who single-handedly beat the Sand Diego Chargers this week with his two.... that's right, TWO... special teams touchdowns. (VIDEO!) For those of you who remember, the former Pro Bowler was traded by the Jets this past off-season, as they didn't believe he'd be able to fully recover from the compound fracture in his fibula. for those of you who remember back even further, Washington was a fourth-round pick of the Jets back in 2006.... the pick they got from the Kansas City Chiefs in return for Herm Edwards.
